The mission of the Health Sector is to promote the health status of the people of Jigawa State through improved, integrated health care services, on the basis of Primary Health Care.
To ensure good resource mobilization and practices with increased public–private partnership (PPP) and effective community participation and ownership, so as to ensure that basic health services are made available, accessible, affordable and acceptable to the people of Jigawa State.
The health policy thrust in line with the National health policy focuses on Primary health care delivery system with the primary objective of improving the health status of the population in a sustainable manner. This entails continuous improvement in all key health indicators in the state through improved accessibility to affordable and qualitative healthcare services; reduction in health and disease burden among the people; and other targeted intervention programmes specifically aimed at the attainment of the health-related SDGs.

FG Formerly Takes Over Rasheed Shekoni Specialist Hospital from Jigawa State Government.
The Federal Government has formally taken over the Rasheed Shekoni Specialist Hospital (R. S. S. H) Dutse from the Jigawa State Government. In addition to service delivery, R. S. S. H will be used for training the medical students of the Federal University, Dutse.
Jigawa State Governor directs recruitment of 32 medical doctors
Gov. Muhammad Badaru of Jigawa has directed the immediate recruitment of 32 medical doctors to boost the state’s health sector. According to newsmen, the recruits are among the 60 students sponsored by the state government in 2016 to study medicine in China.
